Rimmel is one brand that never fails to impress with its wide array of quality cosmetics. Last year the UK based drugstore brand brought forth a collection of a lipstick-lipgloss hybrid titled Apocalips that became the rage, and countless beauty enthusiasts jumped the bandwagon of including this charming little wonder in their beauty must-haves. I never got around to purchase it around its release, but stumbled upon it on my search for the perfect candy color for spring.
The Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquer offers intense colour with a satin finish. It's ultra comfortable to apply yet one has to be careful while applying as too much of this product on the lip isn't for the faint-hearted. The product comes in a tube that lets the colour show, The doe-foot applicator is smooth to handle, however, gets out too much product which I always wipe off at the rim of the tube. Stellar is a shade that seems candy red on some and hot pink on others according to the skin. On me, it a gorgeous bold pink but with visible red undertones.
The lasting power of this particular shade is great, lasts up to four hours on my supple lips, but beware, this stunning shade transfers on almost everything! I apply it with a light hand, blot it with a tissue, and apply another coat if I am heading for a night out. This liquid lipstick's best quality is that it doesn't feather at all, and leave a gorgeous stain on the lips as it fades out. Maybe the stain wouldn't be seen on the lighter colors from this line.
With so many positive qualities, the Rimmel Apocalips has one quirk which might be intolerable for some, it has an unpleasant smell! Frankly quite enough to make me gag, but the color pay-off and pigmentation is enough to ignore the smell.
The Rimmel Apocalips is available in a number of shades, some shades available in some countries and not in others, for a price of $9.99 or £6.49. Folks in the UK can easily purchase it form Boots or Superdrug, while in US and Canada it's available at Target and all leading drugstores along with Rimmel counters.
