What is Vaginal Odour?A clean and healthy vagina may not have any particular scent to it, however, a yeast or bacterial vaginal infection may give off an unpleasant stink, that is unappealing or unattractive. There are also a number of other factors that may be the reason behind vaginal odour.
Hormonal imbalance, poor hygiene, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, use of certain contraceptives, bacterial and yeast infections, and even wearing fitted undergarments may become the reason behind vaginal odour.

How To Get Rid Of Vaginal Odour?Vaginal odour is an embarrassing issue, however, there are number of home remedies to get rid of it. A doctor must always be consulted if the problem persists, or leads to itching, redness or swelling. Here are a few remedies that work effectively to get rid of vaginal odour:
White VinegarVinegar is known to balance the pH level of the skin and is effective in treating vaginal odour. Half a cup of white vinegar mixed into your bath water will provide instant relief from the problem. Soak yourself for a good 20 minutes for fast results.
YogurtYogurt contains healthy bacteria that helps fight off vaginal odour and infection. You can eat a bowl of fresh yogurt daily to increase your body's immunity level against all infections, or a spoonful of yogurt can also be applied to the vaginal area and washed off after 15 minutes with cold water.
AlumAlum is known to be used as a water purifier, and effectively fights off bacteria as it has antiseptic and antifungal properties. A stick of alum can be run under water and applied on the vaginal area twice daily for effective results. The area may also be washed with a glass of water mixed with a spoonful of alum powder.
Apple Cider VinegarKnown for its acidic properties, ACV gets rid of the foul and fishy vaginal odour and keeps infections at bay. Two cups can be mixed in your bath water, followed by 20 minutes of soaking yourself into it, or a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar can be mixed in a glass of water and drank daily to keep yeast infections away.
Tea Tree OilTea Tree Oil gets rid of bacteria and foul odour, and also has a minty scent that feels pleasant. A couple of drops of tea tree oil mixed in a glass of water can be a good wash for the vaginal area, or diluted tea tree oil may also be applied on the area.
Indian Lilac or Neem is one of the best herbal remedies out there to cure all fungal, bacterial and viral problems. Boil a couple of neem leaves in a pan of water for a few minutes. Let it cool down, strain the water and wash the area with it. The vaginal odour will be gone and so will any infection.
Along with trying out the above remedies, it is essential to maintain good hygiene. Washing the vaginal area with a mild soap daily, cleaning the area well after bowel movement, and maintaining a healthy diet are all important. Avoid oily and starchy foods, and include citrus fruits into your diet. Avoid unprotected sex and wear cotton undergarments to prevent vaginal odour.
