The name Balenciaga needs little introduction. Founded by pioneering Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga, the house represents a fashion legend. But it is designer Nicolas Ghesquière who has made the modern brand one of the most coveted labels there is. In his nine years as Creative Director, Ghesquière has created iconic collections season after season that often pay tribute to Cristobal’s ground-breaking archive and employ some of his couture techniques, but that also bring those designs headlong into the Twenty-first Century, and beyond.
