From the runways of Paris, Milan and beyond, to the season’s most talked about movie and even the pop culture, ballet has been the inspiration for this season.
Runway
The spring 2011 collection of Chloe was inspired by tutu styled dresses and delicate tulle and mesh skirts paired with elegant ballerina flats in neutral shades of peach, nude, white and taupe. Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel also showcased his collection with tutu skirts and plume infused skirts.
Celebrities
Hollywood celebrities are also embracing the ballet fashion. Taylor Swift’s pleated peach cocktail dress is paired with a beaded belt. Kate Bosworth looks very glam and poses in Chanel in a striped, floral, flattering skirt style dress.
Movie
Set in the world of New York ballet, Natalie Portman’s psychological thriller “Black Swan” is a story of a ballerina who is consumed by dance. Portman performs extraordinarily and exhibits immense talent and wins a much deserved Oscar for her role.
Music
The artwork of Kanye West’s hit single “Runaway” features a ballerina striking a pose. There was also a generous dose of ballet in a 40 minute film with the same name.
The ballerina inspired sleek, slicked back bun is back in fashion this season.
Scent
Viktor & Rolf celebrated their scent’s 5th anniversary with this tutu inspired frilly skirt packaging on a limited edition bottle.
