Katie Eary for River Island Design Forum SS14

The collection has been designed with strong, confident girls in mind, that dress for themselves and want to stand out from the crowd. Animal prints in energetic color ways are found on flowing maxi dresses and skirts with seductive thigh high slits, sexy swimwear, bleached denim shorts, dip hem T’s and billowing sleeved blouses. Accessories complete the collection, with heavily fringed suede bags, gold feather hooped earrings and a statement choker.

The 18 piece collection ranges from £15-£120 and comprises of bold vivacious prints, sheer fluid fabrics, sexy swimwear and must-have accessories.

British designer Katie, started her fashion career after graduating in 2008 from The Royal College of Art. Since then her career has grown from strength to strength, and has been ‘one to watch’ on the London fashion scene. Katie’s main design focus has been predominately menswear and has worked closely with Kanye West on his fashion label.

Katie has introduced womenswear into her recent collections and by embracing her love of print and design she is due to make her debut into the High Street with this sensational collection for River Island Design Forum.

When talking about her inspiration, Katie states "My starting point was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Except in my story it wasn’t Johnny Depp, it was my muse (the strong woman) on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert.  I then went on to design looks for her while she was on this journey. It all became very 'Tribal Dipped in Gold".

Katie says of the collaboration ‘River island connects to the cool type of women which suits my project. All those independent, sexy, powerful women who frequent River Island, so naturally I thought we were a perfect match’.

Katie’s collection for River Island Design Forum is due to launch via a short film created and directed by film maker, Kinga Burza at the Fash/on Film event at London Fashion Week in February 2014.
