MAC Back In Vogue Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Review and Swatches

MAC brought forth a line of retro matte liquid lipcolours earlier this year, as the matte trend has become quite popular over the past few months, owing especially to Kylie Jenner's Matte LipKits.

The MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours come in a variety of 20 shades, ranging from light nudes to vibrant colours, and are described as a 'lip-colour that provides a splash of colour in suede finish that lingers'.

These retro matte liquid lipcolours are MAC's twist to the classic matte texture that offers a timeless glamour and pop of colour all day long.

One can easily say that MAC's Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours are a hybrid between the much loved MAC lipsticks and their ever popular creamy lip-glosses.

The shade that I have here is called 'Back in Vogue', and is a classic peachy-nude, a light to medium peach coral shade that has warm undertones and a perfect matte finish.

'Back in Vogue' is the perfect Kylie Jenner nude shade, with an opaque consistency that unfortunately feathers and lines while applying.

However, after the application, the colour dries up in a few seconds and the streaks disappear too, leaving a flawless application and finish that lasts for 6 to 8 hours, and even survives meals!

The texture of the retro matte liquid lipcolour is creamy and smooth, and smells a pleasant vanilla-ish, which I think all MAC products tend to smell.

'Back in Vogue' is a gorgeous summer colour, and will be your ultimate choice if you like nude and bare makeup looks.

The only flaw of this matte lipcolour is that is quite drying, and one tends to feel uncomfortable after a few hours of application, so applying a balm on top of it might work for you.

Since matte lipcolour emphasise dryness and flaking on the lips, it is advised to use a good lip-scrub and an even better moisturiser before applying this liquid matte lipstick.

Applying a nude lip liner before application of the liquid will also give a canvas to work with, and will offer a more controlled application.

'Back in Vogue' will suit most skin tones, however if you are quite tanned or above NC35, it will give you a washed out look and won't suit your skin-tone.

Like all MAC products, it comes in a black cardboard packaging, and the tube has the MAC lipsticks' signature bullet inspired packaging, but features a clear body.

The doe-foot applicator is easy and comfortable to work with, and you get 5 ml of product for $21, which might seem a tad bit too much as compared to the Kylie Jenner Matte LipKits, which also offer a pencil liner for $29.

The MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours are a permanent MAC line, and are available online and at all MAC stores.

If you are looking for the ultimate gorgeous nude no makeup look, you can pair 'Back in Vogue' with a swipe of MAC Peaches Blush to the apples of your cheeks.
