Learn how to create your own DIY all-natural micellar water at home for a gentle and effective cleansing option for your daily beauty routine.
Micellar waters have been all the hype recently with beauty brands including L'Oreal Paris, Garnier and more bringing out their versions of this unique concoction. The Garnier Micellar Water was specially raved about in the beauty world. Micellar waters are multi purpose cleansing and hydrating formulas that give you smooth and supple skin AND take off all your makeup as well. Here is a detailed look at what micellar waters are, what do they do and how to make a natural version at home:
What Are the Ingredients of Micellar Water?
In simple words, micellar water contains micelles that are tiny droplets of cleansing oil molecules suspended in water. An interesting fact about micelles is that they are attracted to dirt, oil, sebum, and other impurities on the skin, which when used after cleansing, take off these impurities from the skin. They also do not dry out the outer most layer of the skin, and leave it soft and supple, along with well hydrated. Micellar water therefore is the best all-in-one formula to cleanse, tone, and moisturize the skin. No rinsing afterwards is required, and it gives you the most flawless skin.Another great quality about micellar water is that that it removes makeup without leaving residue behind like other makeup removers. It does not irritate and harm the skin, and even those with the most sensitive and acne prone skin will find that micellar water is gentle on their skin and works great, in fact.
With so many great factors about store-bought micellar water, there is one factor that makes using them such a nuisance; they contain ingredients that are far from being natural, and are quite harmful to the environment! In order to combat this, here is an easy at home recipe for micellar water that you can make right from your kitchen cabinet.
DIY All Natural Micellar Water
Store- bought micellar water though may work wonderfully but includes chemicals. After a lot of research to find natural alternatives to those chemicals, the ingredients in this recipe will offer the same results and efficiency, without any harmful chemicals. Micellar waters consist of water, a humectant and an astringent or toner that will keep the natural PH levels of the skin and get rid of any residue, oil and dirt. The ingredients in this DIY recipe call for vegetable glycerin which is known to give the softest of skins and was considered a great beauty secret in the ancient world. It will act as the humectant in the DIY recipe and will also give a natural and healthy glow to the skin.
Next in line is rose water, known for its healing and nourishing properties, so will shall use that instead of regular water. Rose water also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and serves as an anti-aging agent too.
Serving as an astringent, we will be using witch hazel, which will remove dirt and oil and tighten and close open pores.Witch hazel also cures acne and fades scars and blemishes, so our DIY micellar water will have added benefits too.
