You can get makeup dupes, fashion inspiration, beauty hacks, and now a video posted on a Malaysian user profile shows this viral hack of getting perfect curls using just an empty plastic water bottle and a hair dryer. Racking up a million views since its posting, the video seems to give an alternate to the expensive Dyson Airwrap curls for literally less than a fraction of a price.
The viral video shows a Malaysian woman put a length of her hair into an empty plastic bottle, and using a slit in the side of the bottle blow dries her hair. Then the woman takes out her hair from the bottle, and viola - her hair is in gorgeous and perfectly blown dried curls. The woman in the video laughs and smiles, possibly a smirk at the extravagant $550 price tag of the Dyson Airwrap.
Since the video went viral, more and more people are posting their take on the hack, and even stylists are trying it out with great results. South Florida based stylist Olivia Smalley posted an Instagram video of herself trying the bottle and hairdryer hack and starts out first with a skeptical look. She inserts a section of her blonde hair into a plastic water bottle, and using the concentrator of her Babyliss dryer inserted through a slit into the bottle, rolls her hair. Olivia seems to be in disbelief at how perfect the hack results turn out!
Since then a viral #blowthebottlechallenge has been making it rounds. More and more videos are coming up and people giving their tips for the hack as well. A few people have said that it may take you more than a couple of tries to get the positioning of the hairdryer right. Another person has mentioned to make sure that the bottle is a thick plastic and a safety tip has been given too to let the curls cool down before taking them out of the bottle. Also holding the bottle at the right angle will give better results.
