Maisie Williams aka Arya Stark had a sex scene with Joe Dempsie aka Gendry in the 2nd episode of Game of Thrones 8. The actress shared as to how surprising it was to know about the scene.

After the first episode 'Winterfell' of Game of Thrones season 8, the second episode 'A knight of the seven kingdoms' of the fantasy saga is finally out. A few scenes from the episode were quite shocking for the fans like Arya and Gendry's sex scene, and the sequence where Jaime, Brienne and Tormund are in the same room. The Game of Thrones cast got their scripts at the same time, but Sophie Turner Aka Sansa Stark was fast enough to read quickly through all the pages. When Sophie read the scene of Arya aka Maisie having sex with Gendry, she immediately called her up.

Sophie Turner recalls, “I called Maisie and was like ‘Have you read it yet?’” “And she’s like, ‘I’m midway though episode one.’ And I’m like: This scene, this page, read it! This is awesome! She was very happy.” Williams told, "Sophie said, ‘Whatever you do, you have to skip to this episode, this scene first.’ So I just read that and it was practically all I knew about the entire season.” At first, she thought that this scene with Joe Dempsie is a prank by show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss. However, it turned out to be legit. “At first, I thought it was a prank,” Williams says. “I was like, ‘Yo, good one.’ And [the showrunners were] like, ‘No, we haven’t done that this year.’ Oh f—k!”

At the time when the scene was being read aloud and discussed, Maisie said, “I got to the read-through and I’m reading the scene and thought, ‘Oh, we’re actually going to do this. When do I shoot this? I need to go to the gym.’ A whole list of things.” The actress also shared that it was up to her as to how much she wanted to show in the scene. “David and Dan were like: ‘You can show as much or as little as you want,’” Williams says. “So I kept myself pretty private. I don’t think it’s important for Arya to flash. This beat isn’t really about that. And everybody else has already done it on the show, so… “ Maisie continued, "Then [the scene] was rushed. We were [directed by] David Nutter, who has a habit of speaking fast anyway. By the end we’re rushing to finish the scene and David is going, ‘Okay, you’re going to come in and do this and do that and, great, take your top off’ — and then walked off. And I’m like … ’Okay. Let’s do it.”
