Balmain brings an equestrian inspired diverse Fall/Winter 2020 Collection

Olivier Rousteing's potent fashion message at the Balmain Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2020 Show was one of diversity, and that the term 'bourgeois' is associated with everyone regardless of privilege and race. The Balmain designer, an African orphan adopted by French parents, brought his latest collection on the runway, which was heavily equestrian inspired with lots of shades of beige, with blanket ponchos, sleek tailoring, languid silk shirts and pants, and leather fashion into luxury dressing.

Balmain, known for its sharp and bold designs, saw a softer edge at the tailoring, and the designer fashioned buttery leather into wearable and chic quilted kimono jackets and wrap skirts. Form-fitting tops were styled with baggy and slouchy leather pants, and sharp shoulders remained prominent on the ramp though less aggressive, giving a more relaxed and chic overall feel.

Other prominent and noticeable designs on the runway included a metallic chain link embroidered mohair sweater styled over a denim skirt, easy silk separates, and a hoodie-blazer hybrid, layered over a classic blazer and trousers, which will certainly become the most happening piece of the season. Balmain's evening-wear included caped gowns in earthy shades, styled with leather belts and riding boots, while satin bustier dresses with ruffled skirts were also spotted at the show. The collection felt like an evolution, and Olivier certainly owned it with elegance and grace.
