Wes Gordon, for his Spring/Summer 2023 Carolina Herrera Show at the New York Fashion Week, opted for a chandelier-filled ballroom at The Plaza Hotel, where the house founder put on a show back in 1984. The inspiration behind the show was Frances Hodgson Burnett’s 'The Secret Garden,' a favorite book from the designer's childhood. The new collection speaks of the romantic depiction of nature and beauty in the novel, and offers a stunning array of floral prints. Seen on the runway were floral knit ensembles and feminine corseted denim pieces, tailored taffeta suits, maximalist evening wear, and a glamorous candy embroidery red-and-pink plunge front bustier gown, and even a poppy red column with dramatic rosette, already worn by Kate Hudson at the Toronto Film Festival last Saturday.
