Dolce Gabbana The Breathtaking Styles of Alta Moda

Every year, the Alta Moda show by Dolce & Gabbana takes guests on an enchanting trip. In 2022, the fashion house brought people to Sicily, the home of Domenico Dolce. The July show celebrated 10 years of Alta Moda. Every year, it continues to draw in the A-list celebrities and exclusive guests that make up the D&G family.

Dolce & Gabbana and the Sicilian Woman

Haute couture is luxury. In French, it means high dressmaking, but it also represents a community bound together by matching ideas and values. High fashion showcases creative minds and grand clothing.

In the 2022 Alta Moda collection, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana used 106 designs to tell the story of the ancient Sicilian woman. They created a blend of classic and contemporary, evoking traditional aesthetics. Every fabric and color is a deliberate choice to celebrate eternal beauty.

Black Veils and Transparency

Black is a sensual color that reminds viewers of the Sicilian woman's historical context. Much of the 2022 Alta Moda collection includes black throughout various pieces in the form of transparent veils and hosiery. In addition, black is a Dolce & Gabbana classic color. For those who have been a part of the D&G family for decades, the collection is new but full of nostalgia for the 80s and 90s.

While many of the pieces include chiffon, lace and embroidery, modestly covering the model, as the garment moves, flashes of skin appear through the transparent material. The artistic, dramatic nature of the dresses creates a mysterious and romantic image.

Roman Catholic Black and Gold

The Roman Catholic influence is not subtle in this collection. It was filled with large rosaries with sparkling gemstones and cross necklaces. Again, black is a major player in Roman Catholic imagery, but so is gold. Dresses covered in handpainted gold flowers stand out amongst the variety of pieces.

Many of the garments included a veil reminiscent of a nun's habit. At the show, models draped in fabrics fit for a wedding still wore veils that stood out as religious imagery. Boots and other footwear highlight the love for gold and silver from the Roman Catholic influence.

Bright Colors and Architecture

The bright colors are the fourth element of the 2022 Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda line. Finishing up the show was a model in a beautiful red gown worthy of a standing ovation. Colors included bright whites, reminiscent of baroque architecture. Some garments had wings or cherubs that appeared sculpted like stunning Sicilian architecture.

Bright yellow, green, blue and pink were also displayed throughout the collection. One stunning piece includes a large, handpainted pink flower on the shoulder and an array of multi-color flowers throughout the dress.
