Katy Perry arrives to the 2022 CMAs; brings double denim back in trend

Katy Perry has continued to impress with both her music and fashion outfits. Be it for a music video or an appearance on the red carpet, the songstress makes a mark and hits all the right scores. Attending the the 2022 Country Music Awards, the Hot and Cold songstress brought back in trend the double denim look. There was no doubt that the  inspiration behind the look was 90s icon Britney Spears. Britney's most iconic fashion look is the top-to-toe double denim with her then boyfriend Justin Timberlake for a red carpet event.

One of the most happening trends these days is the ’90s and early aughts looks. Naturally double denim would return to the red carpet, though it never really went out of trend.

For the Country Music Awards red carpet on Wednesday night, Katy was an alluring sight dressed in an off-shoulder corseted top and baggy jeans by Porto-based brand Marques’Almeida. The sassy ensemble featured an oversized bow on the waist and had an acid-wash colourway. Her loose-fitting jeans juxtaposed her tight top, which also had a deep V-neck and off-the-shoulder sleeves. Added to the look was a pair of nude, sparkly heels with pearls and a diamond choker around her neck. Her gorgeous long brunette hair was done in loose waves and a glossy pink lip rounded off her look.

Katy has previously worn denim on denim for the red carpet before. The superstar wore a patchwork denim dress and matching bag, just like Spears, to the 2014 VMAs, and her date Riff Raff was dressed in double denim too, much like Britney and Justin.
