Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, known as Kate Middleton, visited Wales on Thursday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team. During the event, she joined in on a lesson in hiking and abseiling training with her husband, Prince William.

Kate Middleton's attire for the occasion included a mix of functional and stylish pieces. She wore a black and red Mountain Equipment Kongur MRT women's jacket, which is designed for the demands of professional rescue team members. Underneath the jacket, she had on a red Keela jacket and a dark green Holland Cooper roll-neck sweater. She paired these with black cargo skinny pants from G-Star Raw and brown Berghaus hiking boots for practicality and comfort.

Despite the focus on functional gear, Middleton added a touch of elegance to her look with pearl and gold earrings from the brand Accessorize.

The Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team is a volunteer-run organization that provides rescue services in the Brecon Beacons National Park and surrounding areas of Mid Wales and South Wales. The team operates 24/7, 365 days a year and is solely donation-based.

Prince William also attended the event, sporting the menswear version of Middleton's Mountain Equipment jacket. He has experience in search-and-rescue missions, having worked as a Royal Air Force search-and-rescue pilot from 2010 to 2013 and as an Air Ambulance pilot from 2015 to 2017. In 2011, just two weeks after he married Middleton, he made headlines for assisting two mountain rescue missions.

Overall, Kate Middleton showed off her active side and dedication to charitable causes in her functional yet stylish outfit, proving that practical gear can still look fashionable.
