In a bold move to expand his brand, accessories designer Brandon Blackwood is releasing his first-ever swimwear line this Friday. The viral designer has taken the same classic and colorful perspective that made his handbag designs famous and applied it to a range of bathing suit styles.
Blackwood believes that the new swimwear line is not an odd choice for his brand, but rather a necessary part of his company's lifestyle sector. With the brand's logo written in bold across the chest of one of his key styles, Blackwood is hoping to boost his brand awareness and promotion in the summer months.
In line with his brand's general product launch strategy, Blackwood has kept the pricing for his swimwear line accessible and affordable. The new range includes eight styles, five mix-and-match bikini pieces, and three differently styled one-piece suits. The swimwear will range in price from $35 for a swim bralette, to around $80 for a one-piece suit.
Blackwood's swimwear is available on his website and in-store at Kith Miami, where the brand has been performing exceptionally well. With bright colors that match the popular bags and shoes in his line, customers can match their swimsuits with other items in his collection.
The swim designs are available in a full-size run from extra-small to extra-extra-large, manufactured in both Portugal and Turkey. For the launch campaign, Blackwood has continued using unconventional marketing techniques. He commissioned world-acclaimed artistic swimmer Zoe Poulis to record videos of herself wearing the new swimwear while performing. For still imagery, Blackwood linked with marine biologists in the Bahamas who model the designs alongside stingrays and game fish.
This swimwear line is the second major category launch for Blackwood this year, following the release of his first line of shoes in March. Blackwood hopes that the release of his swimwear line will continue to expand his brand into new and exciting territories.
