In their Resort 2024 collection, fashion designers Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 continued their back-to-the-roots theme from their coed fall 2023 show. They revisited the aesthetic codes that have defined the brand over the past two decades, delivering a nostalgic Y2K rewind with full force.

During a preview of their latest creation, Dan Caten explained that they have often sought inspiration from various sources around the world or embraced seasonal themes. However, they realized that they excel when they stay true to themselves. This insight led them to channel their signature sexiness and irreverence through a blend of styles, as evidenced in their latest lineup.

The collection juxtaposed a seductive, and at times, trashy aesthetic with sport references, glitz, and a boyish vibe. Caten described it as embodying a "suburb chick" attitude. Denim took on various forms, with baggy and roomy pants paired with extremely cropped jackets, jeans featuring side openings or buttoning up on the hip, and low-waist options accentuated by chunky logo belts that allowed glimpses of underwear. Denim pieces adorned with cotton patches depicting Betty Boop made a statement, along with occasional sparkly finishes such as sequined star-shaped motifs and bejeweled fringes adorning washed jeans, denim jackets, and miniskirts.

These flashy embellishments heightened the glam and sexy allure of the collection, which showcased plenty of attention-grabbing abs, super short hemlines, and fitted silhouettes. Pleated tartan miniskirts and a ruched dress in faux leather with a zippered detail, styled with a cropped tank top, exemplified the flirtatious vibe. The theme took a cheeky turn with a pink baby-doll dress worn under a striped knitted cardigan, veering towards a more refined bon-ton appeal with classic tweed jackets, and embracing an athletic direction with hybrid designs, including sweatshirts featuring built-in corsets and denim shorts mixed with joggers.

References to basketball, racing, and boxing were prevalent throughout the collection. Standout pieces included a satin bomber jacket with a retro flair, boxing shorts reimagined in a longer length, and jerseys transformed into dresses. The Dsquared2 woman effortlessly embodies both sexiness and sportiness, epitomizing the brand's unique style fusion.
