MARNI x ERYKAH BADU Fall/Winter 2023 Capsule Collection

MARNI has partnered with Grammy-winning artist Erykah Badu for the Fall Winter 2023 Vol.1 Limited Edition Capsule Collection, which seamlessly blends the fashion house's artisanal values with Badu's unique aesthetic. This collection is an expression of color, texture, and light, showcasing women's ready-to-wear, accessories, and footwear. Designed to be seen, touched, and heard, the MARNI x ERYKAH BADU collection features outwear that is warm and comfortable, knitwear that exudes a sense of coziness, and tailoring that is expressive, curious, and sensual. The accessories are also reflective of Badu's individualistic maximalism, and the collection includes Marni's interpretation of the iconic hats worn by the singer.

As part of the Marni Jam multidisciplinary program, which fosters experimental dialogues and exercises with the brand's growing community, the MARNI x ERYKAH BADU collaboration showcases the brand's commitment to creativity and innovation. The campaign for the collection was photographed by Sergio Cattivelli in Dallas, Texas, with Badu in charge of the art direction. “A metallic gold leather jacket is amplified with shearling accents done in a soft palette. Trenches with shearling collars are crafted from a mosaic of jewel-toned patchwork leather. Dresses, skirts and shirts are fully embroidered with onyx, silver, gold and bronze sequins that catch the light and jingle as they move. Fluid satin dresses are spliced with panels of multi-colored velvet. Tailored jackets are cut with strong, oversized shoulders and constructed from bold, color-blocked contrasts of dry-hand wools, soft calfskin and suede.
