Kaia Gerber recently transformed the traditional concept of toga dressing into a symbol of high fashion during her red carpet appearance for the premiere of the new Apple TV+ miniseries "Palm Royale." Taking on the role of Mitzi in the Kristen Wiig–led period comedy, which also stars the legendary Carol Burnett, Gerber showcased her fashion-forward sensibilities in a breathtaking gown from the Alaïa Fall/Winter ’24 ready-to-wear collection.
The ensemble featured an arctic-blue, asymmetrical layered minidress that breathed new life into the classic toga design. The outfit included a turtleneck top layer that elegantly draped over Gerber’s left shoulder, creating a dramatic, billowing effect, while leaving the other arm bare. This innovative design continued around the back, culminating in a balloon-like silhouette that added a modern twist to the ancient garment.
Underneath the draped layer, a cerulean bodysuit complemented the dress's dynamic structure, featuring material strips that added texture and movement, reminiscent of switchgrass swaying in the breeze. To round off her look, Gerber opted for bright white heels adorned with thin straps encircling her ankles, enhancing the outfit's contemporary elegance.
Styled by Danielle Goldberg, Gerber wore her hair down in a middle part, allowing her natural, slightly wavy locks to frame her face beautifully. This appearance is one of many highlights in Gerber’s busy 2024, which has already seen her serving as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race and appearing in an episode of the Peacock stop-motion political satire series "In the Know."
With "Palm Royale" set to premiere on March 20, fans and fashion aficionados alike are eagerly anticipating not only Gerber's performance but also her continued influence on red carpet fashion trends. Her latest look proves that with the right touch, historical fashion elements can be reimagined into something entirely new and utterly captivating.
