Kim Kardashian is setting the record straight about her engagement ring from Kris Humphries—revealing that she paid for most of the $2 million sparkler, only for him to demand it back during their divorce.
On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim took a nostalgic trip down memory lane with her sister Khloé Kardashian and famed jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, reflecting on her past engagement rings.
“Number one was a cushion cut, 14-carat. I still have it,” Kim said, referencing her first marriage to Damon Thomas. But when it came to her second engagement ring—an 18-carat emerald-cut diamond from Humphries—she revealed it’s no longer in her possession.
“I didn’t keep that,” Kim admitted. “I was pregnant with [daughter] North [West], still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring.”
Khloé quickly jumped in, reminding Kim that she had actually purchased the ring herself. “But I bought it!” Kim confirmed. “He contributed a fifth [of the price].”
Schwartz noted that sometimes it’s better to let go of old engagement rings, but Kim confessed she “would’ve loved a collection.”
Kim’s third engagement ring came from Kanye West, who proposed in 2013 with a 15-carat cushion-cut diamond. She still owns that ring and plans to pass it down to their daughter, North West. However, the second, 20-carat emerald-cut ring West gifted her during their marriage was stolen during her traumatic 2016 Paris robbery.
Looking back at her brief marriage to Humphries, Kim has admitted she mishandled their split. During the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion in 2021, she confessed, “I was so nervous to break up with someone, I handled it totally the wrong way. I fully broke up with him in the worst way.”
