María Zardoya Stuns as a “Gothic Bride” in Valentino at the 2025 VMAs
María Zardoya stuns at the 2025 VMAs in a Valentino gown she calls a “1950s Art Deco gothic bride” look, blending velvet, lace, and silk.
The Marías’ frontwoman María Zardoya brought a hauntingly romantic edge to the MTV VMAs 2025, stepping onto the red carpet in a custom Valentino gown she described as a “1950s Art Deco gothic bride” look.
The striking sheath featured a dreamy mix of velvet, lace, and silk, creating a silhouette equal parts gothic and ethereal. “It’s the most romantic gown,” Zardoya shared. “I’ll be waiting for my groom.”
While the indie-pop group didn’t take home the Moon Person for Best New Artist, Zardoya still stole the fashion spotlight. The band, who’ve had a breakout year performing at Coachella and opening for Billie Eilish, are only gaining more momentum.
Beyond the Valentino moment, Zardoya is gearing up for the release of her solo album, Not for Radio, dropping in October, which she calls her “truest form.” Still, fans can rest easy—The Marías aren’t slowing down either, with a new album in the works.
On the VMAs carpet, however, it was all about Zardoya’s romantic gothic glamour—a look that cemented her as one of the night’s most unforgettable fashion stars.
