Chappell Roan Goes Pantless in Dramatic Vivienne Westwood Look With Marie Antoinette–Inspired Hair at Paris Fashion Week

If there’s one thing Chappell Roan never does at fashion week, it’s play it safe. The pop star arrived at the Vivienne Westwood Fall/Winter 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week looking like a rebellious version of Marie Antoinette, and the result felt equal parts theatrical and punk.

Styled by Genesis Webb, Roan took her seat front row in a dramatic dark-gray gown that immediately caught attention. The design leaned into Westwood’s signature historical flair, starting with bold shoulder pads that gave the silhouette a strong, sculptural shape. A deep ruffled neckline framed the top of the dress, while the fitted basque waist cinched everything in before flowing into a voluminous skirt.

Up close, the bodice revealed intricate details. Black lace panels were layered across the structured corset, accented with delicate beading. Small drop jewels cascaded downward from the waistline, adding sparkle and movement as she walked.

But the biggest surprise came from the back.

From the front, the skirt looked like a full dramatic piece. Turn around, though, and the design revealed a cheeky twist. The skirt only covered the front half, leaving the back open and creating a bold pantless moment. Roan paired the look with sheer black tights and a lacy ruffled thong that peeked through, turning the outfit into a playful fashion statement rather than a traditional gown.

Her footwear kept the romantic mood going. Roan wore open-toe heels with feathery lace-up ties that wrapped elegantly around her ankles. Delicate lace gloves, just visible beneath the quarter-length sleeves, echoed the vintage inspiration.

Accessories added a final layer of charm. A velvet choker framed her neckline, while she carried the house’s colorful Hazel top-handle bag crafted from checked wool, a bright contrast against the gray palette.

Then there was the hair. Working with stylist Lacy Redway, Roan’s red bob was transformed into a towering textured updo inspired by 18th-century royal style. Soft curls framed her face while makeup artist Andrew Dahling finished the look with a powdered complexion, rosy shadow, and sharply defined lips.

The appearance followed another headline-making outfit from Roan, who wore a daring Mugler’s 1998 nipple ring dress at the Grammy Awards earlier this year. Clearly, when it comes to fashion, subtlety just isn’t part of her plan.
