Marc Jacobs Unveils The Swap Starring Rowan Blanchard and Jemima Kirke
Marc Jacobs launches The Swap, a playful Fall 2026 campaign starring Rowan Blanchard and Jemima Kirke with the iconic Scene Bag.
Marc Jacobs has found a fresh way to make a handbag the star of the story. For Fall 2026, the fashion house unveiled The Swap, an episodic micro-drama that blends fashion, comedy, and New York City energy into one delightfully chaotic campaign. Starring actress Rowan Blanchard, best known for Girl Meets World and Snowpiercer, alongside actress and artist Jemima Kirke of Girls fame, the campaign kicks off the latest chapter of Marc Jacobs' ongoing Question Marc storytelling series. Jeremy O. Harris also makes a memorable cameo, adding another unexpected twist to the stylish narrative.
The story begins immediately after a Marc Jacobs runway show, where Blanchard and Kirke accidentally leave with each other's Scene Bags. What seems like a simple handbag mix-up quickly spirals into a witty New York adventure, as both women uncover clues hidden inside each other's belongings. The campaign transforms an everyday fashion accessory into the driving force behind a playful mystery, proving that the contents of a handbag can tell a story just as well as the outfit itself.
Fashion lovers will find plenty to admire throughout the campaign. Rowan Blanchard embraces a youthful downtown aesthetic, appearing in layered plaid slip dresses, cropped cardigans, faux-fur trimmed outerwear, graphic tees, headbands, sporty socks, and ballet-inspired shoes. Jemima Kirke contrasts her with cozy oversized knitwear, luxurious faux-fur jackets, soft neutral tailoring, and effortless city-chic separates. Throughout every scene, the spotlight repeatedly returns to Marc Jacobs' Scene Bag, showcased in rich burgundy, sleek black, olive green, floral prints, and leopard textures finished with bold gold hardware. The collection perfectly captures the label's signature blend of nostalgia, playfulness, and modern luxury.
Rather than producing a traditional fashion advertisement, Marc Jacobs leans into cinematic storytelling. Directed like an indie film, The Swap celebrates individuality, friendship, and the unexpected moments that happen while navigating New York City. Additional episodes are scheduled to roll out throughout the Fall season across the brand's social platforms, continuing the story while introducing more accessories and ready-to-wear pieces. It's another inventive step in Marc Jacobs' growing Question Marc universe, where fashion becomes entertainment and every handbag has a personality of its own.
