Daisy Edgar-Jones sheer black Shushu Tong lace dress

Daisy Edgar-Jones took a sharp turn away from her usual period-dressing playbook for her latest "Sense and Sensibility" appearance. The "Normal People" and "Twisters" star, fresh off a run of Georgian-inspired red carpet looks for the Jane Austen adaptation, attended a special screening and Q&A in London on September 16 wearing something considerably more modern and playful.

Daisy wore a sheer black midi dress from Shushu/Tong's Spring 2026 collection, covered edge to edge in dense floral lace embroidery. The dress featured short sleeves, a high round neckline with an opaque collar, and thick scalloped edging that gave the otherwise completely see-through piece some structural polish. Underneath, a bright bubblegum-pink lingerie set, a balconette-style top and matching bottoms, showed clearly through the lace, creating a bold contrast between the moody black overlay and the candy-colored underlayer.

She finished the look with pointed black pumps and a dark tonal ring, keeping accessories minimal so the dress's color-blocking effect could do the talking. Daisy wore her brunette hair down in loose, natural waves with her signature fringe framing her face, and kept her makeup soft and understated.

Though she's often reached for legacy houses like Vivienne Westwood, Gucci, and Alexander McQueen throughout this press tour, this marks a return to Shushu/Tong, a Shanghai-based label she's worn before. The screening, hosted by Edith Bowman and Universal Pictures, came just one day after Daisy wore a custom Vivienne Westwood gown and 149-year-old Boucheron jewels at the film's London premiere, making this playful, sheer moment a striking style pivot in the middle of her Jane Austen press run.
