Florence Pugh Wears Custom Vivienne Westwood Corset Gown at East of Eden NYC Premiere
Florence Pugh wore a custom Vivienne Westwood chartreuse corset gown with Bulgari jewels to the East of Eden premiere at The Plaza in NYC.
Florence Pugh saved her loudest look for last. The Oscar-nominated British actress, known for Little Women, Midsommar and Oppenheimer, closed out her East of Eden press run at the New York premiere on Wednesday, September 30. The event took place at The Plaza Hotel, and she arrived in a custom Vivienne Westwood gown styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray.
The dress was a real statement piece. The top half was chartreuse satin, with huge sculptural puffed shoulders that stood up around her neck and balloon sleeves that flared out dramatically. Underneath, a corset bodice had a deep plunging neckline and a black zip down the middle. It was covered in dark beaded embroidery that looked like branches against the bright yellow-green fabric. From the waist down, the color switched to a sleek silver-grey satin skirt that hugged her hips and ended in a long mermaid train.
Her jewelry matched the drama. She wore a gold Bulgari choker with a big green center stone surrounded by pink gems, which picked up the colors of the bodice. She also wore a couple of large diamond rings.
Her hair was swept up into a sculpted, vintage-style updo, with swirling curls on top and glossy honey-blonde waves around the front. For makeup, she went with silvery smoky eyes, strong brows and a soft nude-pink lip.
The Westwood look follows a long run of fashion moments on this tour. Earlier this week she wore Erdem to the Paley Center screening, and a black Vivienne Westwood dress on The Tonight Show. She also picked Vivienne Westwood for the Emmy Awards earlier in the month.
Florence plays Cathy Ames and executive produces the series, which Zoe Kazan adapted from John Steinbeck's novel. Co-stars Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist joined her on the carpet. The story follows the Trask family from the Civil War through World War I, and all seven episodes are on Netflix from October 1.
