Slayyyter made her MTV VMAs red carpet debut with a lot to celebrate. The pop singer, born Catherine Grace Garner and known for her brash, sex-positive electropop sound, arrived at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 27 fresh off a performance at Tommy Hilfiger's New York Fashion Week show, and picked up two nominations this year, Best Dance for "Dance" and Song of Summer for "Brand New Chanel$," following the breakout success of her third album, Worst Girl in America.

For her big carpet moment, styled by Hunter Clem, Slayyyter wore a custom gown by Kallie Collett in a soft beige tone. The corseted, asymmetrical bodice had one frayed shoulder strap paired with a thin spaghetti strap on the other side, and that same distressed, torn-edge treatment carried down through the fitted skirt at a slight angle, ending in a thigh-high slit. Delicate floral embroidery by Rosie Brain Embroidery and scattered crystal embellishment caught the light throughout, while sheer chiffon panels and a long train added drama as she moved down the carpet. The overall effect leaned boho and a little undone, in the best way.

She finished the look with strappy, crystal-covered Cristahlea heels and a statement necklace from Erickson Beamon, courtesy of the Archive X Yana, its cascading beaded fringe echoing the dress's frayed texture at the neckline. Her wavy, sun-kissed hair fell loose past her shoulders with soft, smoky eye makeup.

The 2026 VMAs marked the show's first return to Los Angeles since 2017. Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the ceremony saw Madonna deliver her first VMA performance in 23 years, Nirvana receive the Video Vanguard Award, and Taylor Swift become the first-ever recipient of the show's new Artist Director Honors.
