Alysa Liu Wears a Black Sequined Louis Vuitton Ensemble With a Front Cutout and Two-Tone Hair to the 2026 Academy Museum Gala

Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu walked the carpet at the 6th Annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles in custom Louis Vuitton, and her hair got just as much attention as her outfit. Katie Qian styled her.

It was a black two-piece look covered in sequins. The top was a sleeveless, scoop-neck tunic made of large, flat paillettes that reflected the flash, and it had a keyhole cutout in the middle that showed a strip of her stomach. The sequins thinned out toward the bottom of the top, and below that the tunic turned into long, plain black panels that fell to the floor on either side like a coat. Under them she wore a matching sequin maxi skirt, so the shine ran down the center of her body. In the full-length shots she put one hand in her pocket, which made the whole thing look relaxed.

The hair was the surprise. It was dark brown on top with blonde dipped ends, cut into shaggy layers with wispy, full bangs, so the two colors looked like they’d been painted in. Her makeup went the same edgy way, with smudged black liner, a bit of grey shimmer on the lids, and a glossy pink-nude lip that kept her freckles visible. Her jewelry was a sleek silver collar necklace scattered with small stones, and she wore a few thin rings on one hand.
