Jennifer Lopez Wears Maria Lucia Hohan Dress and D&G Fur Coat to LA Opera Ball
Jennifer Lopez wore a Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda fur-trimmed coat over a Maria Lucia Hohan gown and an Art Deco necklace to the LA Opera Ball.
Jennifer Lopez knows how to make an entrance, and at the LA Opera Ball on Saturday night she did it under a coat the size of a small stage curtain. The singer, actress and dancer, who has been at the top since Selena and the On the Floor years, went full old-Hollywood glamour for the black-tie night in Los Angeles.
The coat was the star. It’s a Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda piece from the Taormina 2026 collection, in black, with colorful flowers embroidered across the shoulders and sleeves. A huge caramel-brown fur collar and matching oversized cuffs framed her, and the lining was a pale mint-green satin that flashed open as she posed. Black fringe edged the hem. If you remember her July concert for D&G in Sicily, this one fits right in with that world.
Underneath was a black Maria Lucia Hohan Cecilia dress, with a deep plunge, a sculpted strapless bodice and a long, sheer pleated skirt that flowed straight down. The necklace did the heavy lifting on the jewelry front. It was an Art Deco piece by Georges Fouquet, with a gold leaf-and-bird-style design and long drops that hung down her chest. She added drop earrings and carried a black clutch, and platform black peep-toe heels kept her grounded under all that coat. Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn styled the look.
Her hair was parted down the middle and pulled back softly, with loose face-framing strands and caramel highlights. Makeup was warm and bronzy, with coppery eyes and a nude lip. Honestly, I’d love to see this coat paired with a 1920s hairstyle, something very wet and molded around her face. With the Art Deco necklace and all that fur, I feel like it would send the whole look to another universe. If you want more Jennifer in dramatic outerwear, see Jennifer Lopez in a feathered cape, also at a Los Angeles event.
The party itself marked LA Opera’s 40th birthday and the start of its new season. It took place on Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center, after the opening night performance of Carmen. It also welcomed the company’s new music director, Domingo Hindoyan, and a new curtain by artist Enrique MartÃnez Celaya. Proceeds went to LA Opera.
She tends to love a good vintage moment too, as in Jennifer Lopez in vintage Ralph Lauren at Wimbledon.
