Lamine Yamal Wears Chanel With a Giant Pink Brooch at the Ballon d’Or
Lamine Yamal wore a black Chanel suit with a giant pink brooch to the 2026 Ballon d’Or in London, where he won a third straight Kopa Trophy.
Lamine Yamal swapped his Barcelona kit for a Chanel suit on Monday night, and the giant pink brooch on his jacket stole the whole red carpet. The 19-year-old Spanish winger arrived at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Palladium Theatre in London, then went on to collect the Kopa Trophy for the third year in a row. That makes him the first player to win the award three times.
The look is a callback to Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel debut, the spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection. Lamine’s suit is all black, with a cropped single-breasted jacket, wide shoulders and satin peak lapels. A single gold button sits at the center. Underneath he wore a black button-up shirt and a black bow tie, and his pleated trousers were very wide and fell over his shoes. The shoes were black leather lace-ups with a chunky sole and light stitching. It’s a sharp shape, and it feels young without trying too hard.
Then there’s the brooch. It’s a powder-pink flower made of feathery silk petals, about the size of a hand, pinned high on the chest. The wheat-sheaf shape and soft color look great against all that black, and it matches the pale pink strap on his watch. One outlet says he got styling help from Pili Vila, Rosalía’s older sister. His hair was a tousled, curly crop, and his mustache was neat.
He wasn’t alone. His girlfriend, Inés García, stood next to him in a long black gown with sculpted shoulders and sleeves that end in glove-like cuffs, reportedly by Giuseppe Di Morabito. Sparkly rings and a statement ear cuff were her only extras. Together they looked like a matched pair, in a good way. For another standout from the same night, see Sophie Turner’s black Louis Vuitton suit at the Ballon d’Or.
This isn’t Lamine’s first Chanel outing. He wore the brand to the Spanish national team’s training camp in June, and he’s joining Ayo Edebiri and Nicole Kidman as a famous face linked to the house. The night’s other big winners were Harry Kane, who took the men’s Ballon d’Or as a Bayern Munich and England player, and Alexia Putellas.
For anyone who doesn’t follow soccer, Lamine is the young Barcelona star who has been one of the sport’s biggest names since Spain’s Euro 2024 win.
