Olivia Munn Wears Vintage Bob Mackie at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala

Olivia Munn went the vintage route at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala, and the dress she picked is a good one. She wore a Bob Mackie gown from his Fall 1992 collection to the sixth annual event, held Saturday, October 17, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
The gown is a strapless corset style made from gold and black woven lamé. The bodice has a sharp, sculpted sweetheart neckline, and the fabric wraps diagonally across the front. Below the dropped waist, the skirt turns into long vertical pleats that run all the way to the floor. The pattern is busy but tidy. Gold catches the light, black outlines the weave, and the whole thing looks a bit like old-school Hollywood glam.
She kept the accessories low-key so the dress could do the work. A few rings on her fingers and small sparkly earrings were about it.
Her hair was long and dark brown, parted down the middle and left in loose, soft waves. Makeup was warm and glowy, with bronzed skin and a rosy-nude lip. Pretty simple, and it suited the metallic dress.
Munn is an actress, and you probably know her from HBO’s The Newsroom and from playing Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. Before that she was a familiar face on TV as a host. She’s no stranger to a big night out either, and you can see how far her red carpet style has come by looking back at her 2018 Met Gala look.
Bob Mackie’s archive has been getting a lot of attention from celebrities this year. Sabrina Carpenter wore vintage Bob Mackie to the Met Gala, for example.
