Penélope Cruz Wears Vintage Ralph Lauren Spring 2014 to the “La Bola Negra” Screening in London
Penélope Cruz wore a vintage Ralph Lauren Spring 2014 suit with a plaid tie and beret to the La Bola Negra screening at BFI London Film Festival.
Penélope Cruz has been all over the festival circuit this autumn, and this time she skipped the gown. For the La Bola Negra screening at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, she wore a menswear-style suit from Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2014 collection. It’s a vintage piece, and she made it look new.
She wore the black blazer with matching flared trousers, and the real fun was in the details. Underneath was a white shirt printed with a black grid. The same grid pattern showed on the cuffs, which she folded back over her sleeves. Around her neck sat a wide black-and-white plaid tie, worn loose and long. Where the original runway look had a checked beret, Penélope swapped in a plain black one, which kept the outfit from getting too busy. She finished with black platform shoes.
Her hair was darker than we’ve seen it recently, a rich brown with a few warm streaks, and she wore it long and loose with a full, side-swept fringe under the beret. Her jewelry was Garatti, including sparkly drop earrings, a diamond bracelet and a couple of rings. Her styling was by Anna Castan.
The screening was held at the Royal Festival Hall on October 8. She posed with directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, known as Los Javis, and also made time to greet fans and sign autographs. La Bola Negra follows three generations of men in 1932, 1937 and 2017, and its title comes from an unfinished play by Federico García Lorca. Penélope plays Nené Romero in the film, which also stars Glenn Close and Miguel Bernardeau, who was on the carpet too. The film opens in theatres on October 16 and arrives on Netflix on December 2 in the US and Canada.
She dressed up for a different film earlier this autumn, wearing a black Chanel taffeta gown with feathers at the La Bola Negra premiere in San Sebastián.
You can also see her in a custom red Chanel column gown at the Bunker Venice premiere.
