Shoes and bags are perhaps are a fashionista's first true loves. While more and more ladies love to flaunt a shoe that matches their style, it doesn't hurt to go edgy at times and wear a pair that is completely crazy and wild. Fall 2011 saw a mix of colours and textures that different designers presented. Each designer brought forth a pair that was diverse and unique as well as being very stylish. Shades of beige, maroon, chocolate, warm reds and blues along with stone greys were seen, with a refreshing dash of metallics and sparkles. As Fall gets colder, one tends to prefer warmer hues.
Textures also go warm as leather and reptile skins dominate and lace and satin add to the femininity of the designs. And how can one forget fur? Fur proves to be the King this season as everything from clothing to accessories sees a hint of fur. Loafers, heels, wedges and boots are the pieces to wear.
Alexander Wang brought fur-trimmed shoes while Marc Jacobs did a cool colour blocking; Jil Sander had an innovative shoe that through a hole in the sole fits the stirrup pants; Donna Karan used satin while Diane von Furstenberg stuck to suede; Rag & Bone went knee-high and Versace used a decent lacing while Louis Vuitton, Emilio Pucci and Etro used the repeated Fall trend of buckles.
Lanvin went sexy with high heels and Dior and Dolce & Gabbana paired block heels with socks; Rodarte had a tribal inspiration and Mary Katrantzou featured delicate hand-paintings; Gucci used python skin and Prada used buttons to accent.
It was DSquared2 that stole the show with ice skating boots along with Miu Miu who had sparkly, festive season perfect, glittery chunky heels! A crazy season for crazy shoes, one wishes they had 'em all!
