Dark circles are the discolouration under the eyes, a dark hue that can make you look older, tired and exhausted.
They mostly occur due to stress, unhealthy diet, very dry skin and lack of proper sleep, and no amount of concealer can hide them.
Here's a look at the best and easiest remedies to get rid of dark circles, and most of these natural ingredients and commonly found in all households.
Almond OilAlmond Oil is rich in Vitamin E and gently works to soothe and hydrate the skin along with improving the skin tone. It also helps to get rid of fine lines. Massage a light layer under the eyes before bed and leave overnight.
CucumberCucumber works as an astringent and has skin lightening agents. It refreshes the skin and helps get rid of the tired and dull baggy eyes. Cucumber can be peeled and grated, moulded into small balls and frozen before keeping on the eyes for 20 minutes. Thick and cold slices of cucumber will also serve the same purpose.
TurmericTurmeric is a yellow powder and comes from the ginger family. It is known for its healing properties and can lighten dark skin tones. Half a teaspoon of turmeric can be mixed with rose water or pineapple juice and applied under the eyes. Be careful not to get the mixture in the eyes. Leave for ten minutes and wash off with cold water.
PotatoRaw potatoes work wonders to get of discolouration as they have bleaching agents. A small potato can be grated and be kept on the eyelids and under the eyes for 10-15 minutes before rinsing the eyes with cool water. The juice of raw potatoes can also be applied rather than the grated potato.
MilkMilk works better than any day or night cream, and keeps the skin supple and plump. A thin layer of milk can be massaged under the eyes and left overnight for best results. Milk hydrates the skin and keeps its moisturized, and helps get rid of discolouration.
Tea BagsTea is rich in antioxidants and is known to soothe skin. Green and black tea include caffeine and can help reduce puffiness around the eyes and eliminate dark circles. Put used and damp black or green tea bags in the fridge, and when cold keep on the eyes for 10 minutes. The caffeine in the tea helps shrink puffy blood vessels, tightens the skin around the eyes and gives a healthy appearance.
