NYX Powder Blush Cinnamon Review and Swatches
I am all about tangerine! Tangerine lipsticks and blushes are my weaknesses, and I am never able to resist adding another tangerine product to my makeup collection, hence I picked up the NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon.
NYX Powder Blushes are a drug-store favourite, and beauty gurus and beginners rely on this affordable brand as it doesn't compromise on quality.
The American brand also has a variety of products for the lips, face, eyes and nails, along with makeup tools, and offers a vast colour selection.
NYX offers blushes in cream and powder, with powder finishes in matte, satin, shimmer and glitter, for everyday use to more formal ones.
The NYX Powder Blushes claim to deliver a sheer silky colour that glides on the skin for easy blending.
They boast of creating a beautiful and natural glow with a formula that is richly pigmented and lasts for hours.
These powder blushes from NYX are available in 24 shades, and I picked up 'Cinnamon', which is described as a 'matte bright orange'.
I ordered this blush online, and my first thought when I received this blush was that this is no where near a 'matte bright orange'.
A matte orange would be a very bold carrot-ish shade, but NYX Cinnamon gives a sheer shimmery soft pinkish orange glow to the cheeks, and is not an intense shade.
One can barely pick out an orange flush on your cheeks, and it ends up being just a regular shade of every day natural blush.
The texture of this blush is very powdery and smooth, and upon the first swatch it may come off as a very scary highly pigmented blush, but once you start blending, it won't seem as intimidating.
NYX Cinnamon is a wearable shade and can be coordinated with brown eye liner and mascara with a touch of tangerine on the lips.
NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon - Heavily Swatched & Blended
I do not agree with it claims of lasting for hours, and in a hot and humid climate it may not even last for three hours!
If you have oily skin, it is essential to wear primer underneath your foundation and setting powder before you apply blush, so that it can last for a decent time.
For girls with dry skin, the blush might appear patchy, so moisturising the skin well beforehand is a necessity.
NYX Powder Blush can be applied with any blush brush, and can be built to achieve the required look.
For a product that costs $5 (I purchased mine online at a 50% sale for $2.50) the packaging isn't too bad either.
The black plastic casing is not flimsy, though isn't the sturdiest either, and the flip top lid makes it easy to use.
If you are looking for a blush that gives a soft shimmery glow with a soft orange touch, this might be your shade.
However, if you are looking for something such as a strong statement orange blush, the NYX Cinnamon might not be the one for you.
