Beating the stereotype of 'dumb beauty queens', 22 year medical student from South Africa Rolene Strauss was crowned the Miss World 2014 in a lavish ceremony held in London. The beautiful brunette took the crown from Miss World 2013 Megan Young, and beat 120 other contestants from around the world. Rolene juggles a variety of interests and hobbies, and says that studying medicine was a childhood dream. She is a fourth year medical student and speaks fluent English and Afrikaans. Her parents are also into medicine, a doctor and a nurse, and Rolene plans to spread education in her homeland.
The Miss South Africa wore a pale pink off-shoulder gown for the ceremony which put her cleavage on display and had a fitted bodice along with a ruffled tiered hem. Rolene wore her hair in side swept waves and added a pair of dangling diamond earrings to her style. Soft smoky eyes and glossy lips topped off her look for the occasion. Miss Hungary, Edina Kulcsar, was judged the runner-up and Miss United States, Elizabeth Safrit, came third in the 64th Annual Miss World competition.
