Kate Middleton dazzles in Diana's pearl and diamond tiara at the 2016 Diplomatic Reception

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton arrived at the 2016 Diplomatic Reception hosted by the Buckingham Palace, and dazzled in a gorgeous dress and glittering tiara.

Wearing an elegant and remarkable red dress by her favourite British designer Alexander McQueen, Kate was every bit a Royal, and mesmerized at the event.

Though the dress was mesmerizingly beautiful, the highlight of Kate's ensemble was the Cambridge Lover's Knot pearl and diamond tiara, which rested on her brunette hair.

Passed on to four generations, from Queen Mary to Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, who frequently wore it and it was her wedding gift from the Queen; and now Kate Middleton, future Queen, the tiara is a remarkable piece in the Royal treasure.

The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara is a dazzling and heavy piece encrusted with sparkling diamonds and pearls, and was said to give Princess Diana headaches whenever she wore it.

After Princess Diana's death in 1997, the tiara was kept in the Royal vault, and was passed on to Kate by the Queen, and the 2016 Diplomatic Reception marks the second time the Duchess has worn the tiara, the first being last year at the same event.

The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was made in 1914 by Royal Jewellers Garrard, from diamonds and pearls already in the Royal family's possession.

The design for the tiara was inspired by Queen Mary's grandmother Augusta of Hesse, but later on the pearls on the top were removed for some of Queen Mary's brooches.

The exquisite tiara speaks of a prominent French influence and has a new-classical design featuring 19 open work diamond arches, enclosing an oriental pearl drop from a diamond lover's knot bow.

The tiara is also surrounded by single diamonds and upright oval pearl spikes.

Kate surely did justice to the tiara, wearing it elegantly, oozing off charm and style, while the tiara brought back fond memories of the Princess of Wales, Diana, who was beyond beautiful every time she wore it.
