Post-Mastectomy Bra Brand 'Myya' launches
Discover Myya: Empowering post-mastectomy fittings at home, sizes A-O. Inclusive, insurance-billable bras by expert fitters for your healing journey.
Myya is the first direct-to-consumer, intimates and prosthetics brand, and offers a unique approach for post-mastectomy bra fittings. The brand allows its customers in the USA to be sized at the comfort of their homes, by certified mastectomy fitters. Myya also aims to be inclusive with its size and colour approaches, and also is the only online boutique that is able to directly bill its customers’ insurance companies.
Myya currently stocks sizes A to O cup, and women can also schedule one-on-one fitting through the telehealth app the company provides. The brand's certified mastectomy fitters will be available to provide support and advice to customers, taking into account the customer’s preferences, and their journey to post-mastectomy recovery.
According to statistics, one in eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer. Myya was founded by Jasmine Jones, whose grandmother’s struggle with the disease and lack of post-mastectomy bra options became the source of inspiration for the launch of the brand. Jones, who was one of the few Black women in the world to close over 1 million dollars in venture funding, developed Myya at Cherry Blossom Intimates, the brand’s retail space.
Speaking about the effect of the pandemic on the brand’s personal fitting program, Jones said that “when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I was extremely worried that I would not be able to touch another customer - I wouldn’t be able to measure them, fit them correctly, or provide them with the ‘best friend’ our in-store shopping experience offers.”
The pandemic also inspired Jones to take Myya online, with an important area being the retention of the brand’s 'luxurious and supportive environment.' The brand is also into the charity way, and thirteen percent of the profits will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, with the brand already having pledged 25,000 dollars this year.
“We know going through big changes isn’t easy,” Myya’s website reads, “but we’re here to help you move forward.”
