Great skin is something that not everyone may have, but most people can agree is preferable to bad skin. As much as you might like to have great skin, however, it's not always easy to achieve. Many people find themselves with a variety of skin issues that they're not sure how to get rid of.

As a result, they may find themselves piling on more and more products, which only makes the problem worse. Prevent Ingrown Hairs

One of the biggest causes of skin irritation is shaving incorrectly. It's important that you shave in the direction of hair growth to avoid ingrown hairs forming. Often people mistake acne for what are actually ingrown hairs.

When you shave, make sure that you use quality products and avoid anything that will irritate your skin post-shaving.  The same goes for waxing. Any form of hair removal can lead to serious ingrown hairs, and as a result, very irritated skin. 

Wear Sunblock

Sun exposure is one of the biggest reasons for premature aging. It's important that you take care of your skin by applying sunblock every day. Even cloudy conditions called for applying some sort of protection from the sun.

Experts recommend having at least 30 SPF in order to reap the maximum amount of benefits. Your skin won't just be more prone to wrinkles by prolonged sun exposure, but it will also be more prone to sunspots. If you hope for an evenly toned complexion, then the sun is your number one enemy.

Avoid Smoking

Smoking isn't just bad for your lungs. Smoking also leads to wrinkles, which can contribute to aged and sagging skin. In addition to your skin being more prone to wrinkles, your skin is also oxygen-deprived.

Your skin will have a lifeless and dull appearance rather than looking radiant and healthy. Smoking also results in wrinkles around the mouth because of the position your lips are in.

Eat Well

They say that you are what you eat, and it's certainly true. By eating a diet that is rich in wholesome nutrients, you'll be doing your skin all sorts of favors. By eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, you'll have a much lower chance of developing acne.

Many studies suggest that eating processed or greasy foods directly affect your skin. If you're prone to acne, you may want to consider whether your diet may be to blame.  Start incorporating less processed foods and more natural ones, and your skin will thank you for it.
