Luxury footwear brand Manolo Blahnik is set to open an enhanced and spacious store within Japan's prestigious Hankyu Umeda department store. The reimagined 753 sq.-ft. space, located in Umeda's fashion area, offers a larger shopping area compared to Blahnik's previous store. With a contemporary design aimed at providing customers with an elevated boutique experience, the renowned shoe company aims to make a significant impact with its new shop-in-shop concept.

For the first time at the Hankyu store, Manolo Blahnik's men's and women's collections will be presented side-by-side, offering shoppers a unique browsing experience. Visitors can expect a globally inspired design by the brand's long-standing architect, Nick Leith-Smith, who collaborates with Manolo Blahnik and CEO Kristina Blahnik to create an original concept for each location.

The new store draws inspiration from influential figures such as Walter Gropius, Bauhaus, and Jean-Michel Frank. Incorporating a minimalistic and modern "living room" style aesthetic, the space aims to make a bold statement. Decorative furnishings, including ottomans and a checkered carpet, inject vibrant colors in hues of blue, maple, and honey.

Expressing her delight, Kristina Blahnik stated that she is excited about the expanded space in Hankyu Umeda, in association with their longstanding partners, The Bluebell Group. As their business in Japan continues to thrive, she eagerly anticipates the response to their elegant new store and looks forward to welcoming both loyal and new customers to their enchanting new home.

This development follows Manolo Blahnik's recent appointment of Elodie Bougenault, former executive of La Perla and Boucheron, as chief commercial officer. Bougenault's role involves spearheading the brand's strategic plan globally, with a specific focus on Asia and its significant growth opportunities. Responsible for driving the brand's commercial direction across wholesale, retail, and digital channels, Bougenault aims to establish a strong presence in both existing and emerging markets.
