On Tuesday, Bryan Tanaka took to Instagram to confirm the end of his seven-year relationship with iconic singer Mariah Carey. The dancer and choreographer shared the news through a heartfelt statement expressing gratitude for the time they spent together.
"With mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together," Tanaka wrote. He emphasized that their decision to take different paths was mutual and conveyed profound respect for the invaluable time they shared. Tanaka expressed gratitude for the memories and artistic collaborations, stating that they are etched in his heart forever.
In the statement, Tanaka also shared affectionate words about Carey and her children, expressing love and appreciation. He acknowledged the enriching impact they had on his life, emphasizing the warmth and kindness of Carey's family.
Asking for "understanding, privacy, and respect" during this sensitive time, Tanaka concluded his Instagram post.
Mariah Carey has not responded to Tanaka's statement or released a statement of her own. However, she celebrated the success of her hit Christmas song in an Instagram post two hours after Tanaka's announcement. The post showcased Carey posing with a Christmas tree in a stunning red sequin gown, a matching velvet robe, glittery open-toe pumps, and a diamond-encrusted ruby statement necklace.
The news of the couple's split broke last week, with Page Six quoting an exclusive source who revealed that Tanaka desired to have children, while Carey was not in the same place. The source stated, "He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at."
Mariah Carey, who shares 12-year-old twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon, confirmed her relationship with Tanaka three years after separating from Cannon in 2014. The couple first met in 2006 when Tanaka joined Carey's Adventures of Mimi tour as a backup dancer.
