"With mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together," Tanaka wrote. He emphasized that their decision to take different paths was mutual and conveyed profound respect for the invaluable time they shared. The news of the couple's split broke last week, with Page Six quoting an exclusive source who revealed that Tanaka desired to have children, while Carey was not in the same place. The source stated, "He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at."

Mariah Carey, who shares 12-year-old twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon, confirmed her relationship with Tanaka three years after separating from Cannon in 2014. The couple first met in 2006 when Tanaka joined Carey's Adventures of Mimi tour as a backup dancer.
