In a recent exploration of the ever-expanding fashion market, research focusing on social media influence and Google search prevalence has identified Nike as the reigning champion of global fashion brands for 2023. This finding comes from a comprehensive study conducted by the UK-based luxury fashion marketplace, Threadspy, which delves into brand identity metrics across various digital platforms.

Nike has secured the top position with an impressive market share valued at £30.5 billion (AU$58.3 billion), outpacing its competitors by a significant margin. The athletic powerhouse achieved a near-perfect brand score of 9.87 out of 10, a testament to its successful collaborations with iconic sports figures such as Michael Jordan and Cristiano Ronaldo. Over the past year, Nike amassed a staggering 367.40 million global searches and boasts 306 million Instagram followers, underlining its colossal presence and influence. Currently, Nike's market capitalization stands at an impressive US$167 billion (AU$260 billion).

Trailing behind Nike, fashion retailer Zara clinched the second spot with a brand score of 9.75. Although Zara surpassed Nike in Google search volume with 386.5 million searches in the last year, its Instagram following of 60.9 million pales in comparison to Nike's expansive social media reach.

In the realm of luxury fashion, Louis Vuitton emerged as the third most valuable brand globally, leading the luxury segment with a market share of £26.7 billion (AU$51 billion). Following closely are Adidas, Gucci, H&M, ASOS, Dior, Burberry, and Prada, rounding out the top ten of the world's most valuable fashion brands.

Threadspy's research also highlighted the top trending fashion brands, with Longchamp leading the charge. The brand witnessed a 40% surge in search volume, largely attributed to the viral popularity of its Le Pliage bag on TikTok, which amassed nearly 75 million views. Close on its heels, New Balance enjoyed a 36% increase in search volume, fueled by celebrity endorsements from figures like Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Rihanna.

At the other end of the spectrum, luxury sports-lifestyle brand Bogner was noted as the least valuable fashion brand in the world, scoring only 0.48. Despite its low score, primarily due to a minimal TikTok following, Bogner still reported a value of £588.6 million as of 2020, showcasing the diverse criteria and dynamic nature of brand valuation in the fashion industry.
