Ronald Fenty, Rihanna’s Father, Dies at 70 After Cancer Battle

Ronald Fenty, Rihanna’s father, passed away on May 30 in Los Angeles at 70 years old. Official documents obtained by TMZ confirm he died from pancreatic cancer, aspiration pneumonia, and acute respiratory failure, with acute kidney failure also listed as a cause.

Fenty had been hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in late May, where Rihanna and family were by his side in his final moments, according to Barbados’ Starcom Network.

His death comes as Rihanna, 36, is expecting her third child with rapper A$AP Rocky. The couple are already parents to sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 1.

Rihanna and her father shared a complicated relationship. After her 2009 assault by Chris Brown, she criticized him for speaking to the media without consent. However, in a 2012 Oprah interview, she described healing their bond, saying, “As bad as he was with my mother sometimes, it didn’t compare to how good he was as a father.”

Their peace was tested again in 2019 when she sued him for using her name commercially without approval, a case dismissed in 2021.

Reports state Rihanna accompanied him to the hospital before his passing.
