Margaret Qualley brought a dark, slightly unconventional Chanel moment to the London premiere of The Dog Stars on August 20, 2026. The actress stepped onto the red carpet at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in a black look from Chanel’s Resort 2027 collection, but it was her unusual footwear that quickly became the talking point of the night.
Qualley wore a black midi dress covered in rows of small circular motifs. The textured details formed loose strings and fringe-like tassels around the sleeves and hem, giving the otherwise streamlined silhouette plenty of movement. A deep V neckline added definition, while the fitted waist kept the floor-length look feminine without making it overly formal.
The actress paired the dress with Chanel’s now-viral “barefoot heel cap” from Matthieu Blazy’s Resort 2027 collection. Rather than a conventional shoe, the design consists of a sculpted heel cap with thin straps while leaving most of the foot exposed. The deliberately incomplete design debuted during Chanel’s Cruise 2027 show in Biarritz in April and immediately sparked plenty of debate online.
She completed the look with Chanel jewelry, including the Coromandel high jewelry Vol Suspendu earrings and a No. 5 drop ring, according to the styling details supplied for the appearance. Her long dark hair was worn loose with a center part and soft, natural waves. Her makeup stayed understated, allowing the dramatic black texture and unusual footwear to do most of the work.
