Dakota Johnson Wore Valentino Black Cutout Gown at the Caring for Women Dinner 2026
Dakota Johnson stuns in a plunging black Valentino gown with a dramatic cutout and Messika diamonds at Kering’s Caring for Women Dinner.
Dakota Johnson brought serious red-carpet drama to New York Fashion Week, arriving at the 2026 Kering Foundation Caring for Women Dinner in a striking black Valentino gown. The actress was one of the evening’s co-hosts, joining Salma Hayek Pinault, François-Henri Pinault, Pamela Anderson, Simone Biles and others at the September 10 event. The dinner took place at The Pool in New York and raised more than $5 million for organizations working to combat gender-based violence.
Styled by Kate Young, Johnson’s Valentino look was all about dramatic proportions and carefully placed cutouts. The sleek black gown featured a plunging neckline, long draped sleeves and a fitted silhouette that opened into a graceful mermaid-style skirt. A bold cutout at the navel exposed a sliver of skin, giving the otherwise elegant floor-length design a modern, sensual finish. Vogue described the look as a major departure from Johnson’s relaxed summer wardrobe.
The Fifty Shades of Grey actress elevated the gown with Messika diamond jewelry, including sparkling drop earrings, rings and a long crescent-moon necklace that fell dramatically down her décolletage. The jewelry added just the right amount of shine against the all-black Valentino.
Her beauty look was equally striking. Johnson debuted a noticeably darker brunette shade, wearing her glossy hair loose with her signature brow-skimming fringe. Softly defined eyes, glowing skin and a muted rosy lip completed the sophisticated look.
