GANNI x lululemon Launch a Dance-Inspired Activewear Collection With Leopard Print and Ruffles

GANNI and lululemon are teaming up, and the result looks more like a dance rehearsal than a gym session. The Copenhagen label and the activewear giant announced a 22-piece collection built around the 1980s dance films that GANNI creative director Ditte Reffstrup grew up watching. It lands worldwide on October 15.

The mix is easy to read. Lululemon brings the technical side, with its Nulu and Softstreme fabrics running through the line. GANNI adds its usual personality: leopard print, bold color pairings and playful ruffle trims. The Define Jacket gets a full GANNI makeover, and the dance-inspired extras include leg warmers, boleros and headbands.

The campaign images show how it all comes together. Leopard-print zip jackets and matching leggings look like second skin, while a leopard racer-back bra and crop top sit under loose gray sweatpants with ruffled cuffs. There’s a chocolate-brown and pink jersey top with GANNI’s script logo, worn with ruffled black shorts and sheer logo-print tights. A cropped gray sweatshirt with an aqua logo gets a sporty headband, and a white ruffled slip skirt over leg warmers keeps things soft and sweet.

Jennifer Beals, the star of Flashdance, fronts the “Joy Is A Power Move” campaign with singer and dancer METTE. Shot inside a dance studio, the film mixes rehearsal and performance, and it’s easy to see why Beals was picked for a collection that borrows so heavily from that era. Jonathan Cheung, lululemon’s global creative director, says the best part is how the technical materials sit next to the “iconic GANNI style.”
