Obsession Star Inde Navarrette Promises to Do Rogue Justice in Marvel's X-Men Reboot

Inde Navarrette is taking Rogue seriously. The 25-year-old actress, who became a star as Nikki Freeman in the horror hit Obsession after roles in Superman & Lois and 13 Reasons Why, says she's putting everything into her upcoming Marvel role. Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, she explained that she has studied the character closely. "I'm doing everything humanly possible because I love that character," she said. Inde added that she wants to do right by herself, director Jake Schreier and her own fan expectations.

One big focus is Rogue's voice. In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Inde said she grew up in Texas for much of her life and that Southern women are some of her favorite people to listen to. Rogue is from Mississippi, so she wants to spend time there to get the accent right.

Marvel announced the casting at D23 in Anaheim in August. Inde took the stage with Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Maya Boyd as Storm, while Adam Driver was introduced as Mister Sinister. Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts*, is behind the camera. Marvel's new X-Men movie arrives in theaters on May 5, 2028, as the first film after Avengers: Secret Wars. Anna Paquin played Rogue in four earlier X-Men movies. Before the announcement, Inde had talked about wanting to play Mystique, so Rogue came as a surprise.

Her red-carpet style has been a talking point throughout this breakout year. At TIFF in September, she wore a metallic Dior Resort 2027 gown to the Obsession reunion event, where she also appeared at the "Road to the Golden Globes" party.

Awards season is coming too. Focus Features is campaigning her for Best Actress for Obsession, which grossed more than $400 million worldwide on a budget of under $750,000.

Inde is also on the October 2026 cover of Cosmopolitan France. Photographer Nas Nixx shot her inside a reportedly haunted 1882 mansion in Altadena, pairing romantic pieces like a Miaou corset and a Dior shirt with spooky scenes. Fashion has stayed on her schedule alongside the acting. Just before the D23 reveal, she fronted the Gap Fall 2026 "Denim on Your Own" campaign with Malcolm Todd.
