Prince William and Kate Middleton to arrive in Pakistan for Royal Tour

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, will be visiting Pakistan on Monday night for an official royal tour. The couple will embark on a four-day royal tour from October 14 to 18, and they "are looking forward to building a lasting friendship with the people of Pakistan."

The Duke and Duchess will meet Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi on Tuesday, and after that the royal couple will pay a visit to the city of Lahore on October 16, followed by the picturesque location of Chitral on October 17.

The latest royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge comes 13 years after the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwell, Charles and Camilla, toured the country in 2006, and the country also fondly remembers the late Princess Diana's visit in 1996, who had been a close friend of the current Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's ex wife Jemima Goldsmith.

A statement by the royal couple's spokesperson read, "The UK's links with Pakistan are extensive, and Their Royal Highnesses are looking forward to building a lasting friendship with the people of Pakistan."

William and Kate's visit to Pakistan "will pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan" and the focus will stay "on showcasing Pakistan as it is today – a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation," read the statement.

Kensington Palace released a handout which said that the Duke and Duchess will embark on the visit of "the modern leafy capital Islamabad, the vibrant city of Lahore, the mountainous countryside in the North, and the rugged border regions to the West. The visit will span over 1,000km, and will take in Pakistan's rich culture, its diverse communities, and it's beautiful landscapes."

Kate and William, who have become the quite the popular royals, will also be meeting with organizations "which empower young people and ensure they have the best possible start in life." The statement also added, "Access to quality education, particularly to girls and young women is one of the UK’s top priorities in Pakistan."
