Accessorizing: How to Elevate Any Look with the Right Accessories

What exactly makes one appear fashionable and exquisite? The answer to this puzzling question differs from person to person, and the choice is, however, a personal one. What might seem stylish to one could seem unappealing to another. Nevertheless, regardless of the fashion group you belong to, we can all agree that no outfit is complete without the right accessories. You can wear an expensive long dress, and it’ll still appear dull if you don’t complement it with the perfect neckpiece. Likewise, you can put on a simple white tee with a brown leather jacket and a minimalistic pendant to complete the look effortlessly.

Fashion is different for everyone. There is no straightforward criterion to define what you should wear to appear trendy and attractive. Even so, how you wear what you already own says a lot about how fashionable you can be. For example, it is least recommended to wear heavy necklaces and earrings to work. Similarly, you will look dull and uninteresting if you don’t wear accessories to a wedding. If you’ve recently started exploring various accessories and are looking forward to augmenting your femininity, continue reading.

Bracelets

Bracelets can make or break your entire look only if you know which ones to wear with which outfit and on what occasion. If you’re planning to go to a formal event, avoid wearing bracelets you got from the thrift store. Instead, wear something metallic and elegant. Your best options are unique bracelets like cuff bracelets, laurel leaf bracelets, sister bracelets, and minimalistic charm bracelets. Speaking of sister bracelets, you can purchase these to get one for your sister as well. This way, you both can strengthen your bond by sharing similar bracelets. To explore your options, you may shop these sets of sister bracelets and be amazed by their collection.

The rule of thumb with bracelets is to match them with the occasion. Pearl and metallic bracelets are for formal and semi-formal events. Funky and colorful bracelets can be worn in casual settings. Also, avoid wearing dangly bracelets to work because they’ll only cause discomfort while you type.

Necklaces

There’s no denying the fact that necklaces can make your outfit go from 0 to 100 real quick. You may wear a chunky golden choker with a simple white dress to add charisma to it. On the flip side, you can wear a heavy tribal necklace with a simple pastel-colored top. One thing to be mindful of while selecting necklaces is the neckline of your outfit. Ensure the two don’t clash with one another. For example, long chains do not sit right with round necklines.

Similarly, chokers look absurd on crewnecks and turtlenecks. Round necklaces are supposed to be worn with round necklines. Medium-length ones are supposed to be worn with collared tops. Chokers can be worn when your top is abundantly exposing your skin, such as strapless, off-shoulder, etc. Long necklaces can be worn on crewnecks or turtlenecks. Nonetheless, never wear heavy lockets with heavy earrings. It’s considered a sin in the world of fashion.

Wristwatches

If women love something more than rings as Valentine’s present, it’s wristwatches. To many people’s surprise, the Swiss manufacturer Patek Philippe designed wristwatches for women in the 19th century. Ultimately, they became one of the most elegant pieces of jewelry to be worn by women to date. The availability of various types of jewelry sometimes overshadows the value of a good wristwatch. However, the prestige of wearing watches is unattainable from any other accessory.

You can wear a watch to the supermarket, college or university, work (please do), lunch or dinner, etc. However, you might want to leave it behind if you decide to wear an evening gown as it’ll look slightly off. For professional settings, you can and should wear a leather watch. In formal settings, consider metallic ones. Just ensure to wear them an inch above your wrist.

Earrings

Earrings are the most convenient way to shift anyone’s attention to your face, especially your jawline. They also enhance your facial features and complete your overall look. You may sometimes choose to skip the bracelets, rings, or necklaces. But if you forget to wear your earrings, you might feel underdressed throughout the event.

A gorgeous pair of diamond earrings is almost a necessity for a long silk dress. It’ll also make your eyes look bigger and shine brighter. If you’re buying only one pair of earrings for starters and are generally indecisive about which one to buy, go for pearls. Pearls go naturally with every occasion, outfit, or setting. You can wear them to work, weddings, supermarkets, or anywhere, and you will never look over or underdressed.

Bags and Purses

Bags and purses are an absolute necessity not just to complete your outfit but generally to hold your belongings too. However, which purse you choose to take on which occasion can be a tricky decision. But first, we need to bring something important to your attention, i.e., purses don’t necessarily have to be of the same color or pattern as your shoes. There – we said it! If you plan on wearing bright-colored shoes, tone down the color of your purse. For example, never wear a red purse with red stilettos.

On the other hand, avoid bright-colored purses for formal settings. Be mindful of the material you choose too. Suede, metal, bedazzled, and velvet handbags and clutches go wonderfully with gowns and dresses. Leather purses are perfect for pairing with tees and collars.

Rings

It doesn’t matter if you’re a girly girl or a tomboy; rings are every girl’s favorite accessory. Pairing rings with your outfit is always an excellent idea. If you’re wearing heavy bracelets, avoid putting on massive or too many rings. Furthermore, be mindful of wearing similar metals when choosing rings for your outfit. For example, if you’re wearing gold bracelets, earrings, or necklaces, don’t wear silver rings. The same goes for other metals. Nonetheless, you can play around with different color gemstones to see which ones go well with your outfit.

Final Thoughts

Selecting your accessories isn’t as straightforward as it might seem, but with some tips, you’ll be well on your way. Also, ensure that your chosen accessories complement your features and enhance the look of your outfit. Not to forget, they must also sit well with each other. Wristwatches are a prestigious accessory, but they aren’t the best when you’re wearing an evening gown. Similarly, don’t match your purses with your shoes. Wear metallic rings, bracelets, and necklaces to formal events and leave the colorful jewelry for casual settings.
