French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton reimagines the iconic Capucines bag for a new collection. For the fourth year in a row, the brand has enlisted six contemporary artists to come up with their versions of the Capucines bag, and has aptly titled the collection, the Artycapucines 2022. The French fashion house has teamed up with Amelie Bertrand, Daniel Buren, Ugo Rondinone, Peter Marino, Park Seo-Bo and Kennedy Yanko.

French painter Amélie Bertrand has designed the first-ever capucines to glow in the dark, which is inspired by the atmosphere of summer nightlife. Conceptual artist, painter, and sculptor Daniel Buren has come up with his trademark black-and-white stripes for his design, and has also used his signature themes in an ingenious “double-design” concept. Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone bas celebrated the clown and rainbow motifs often found in his oeuvre. American architect Peter Marino has made an intense and majestic all-black design, inspired by a found antique studded trunk. Korean painter Park Seo-Bo reimagines a 2016 work from his celebrated “Écriture” series to the surface of the bag. American sculptor, painter and installation artist Kennedy Yanko has translated her trademark metal and “paint skin” works into leather.

The campaign for the collection stars top models Rebecca Leigh Longendyke, Jill Kortleve, and Mona Tougaard, lensed by fashion photographer Steven Meisel. Carine Roitfeld has styled the shoot, with creative direction from Thomas Lenthal, and hair stylist Syd Hayes and makeup artist Pat McGrath have worked on beauty for the models.
