Stella McCartney Kids x SpongeBob SquarePants: A Sustainable & Whimsical Collab
Stella McCartney Kids teams up with SpongeBob for a sustainable 38-piece collection—think crocheted totes, tie-dye loungewear & eco-conscious designs.
"I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready!" — and so is Stella McCartney’s latest playful venture. The iconic designer has teamed up with everyone’s favorite porous sea dweller, SpongeBob SquarePants, for a 38-piece kids’ capsule that’s equal parts fun and eco-conscious.
From crocheted totes featuring SpongeBob’s grinning face to swim trunks and slingback espadrilles adorned with Bikini Bottom’s crew (yes, Patrick, Gary, and even Plankton made the cut), this collection is a love letter to nautical nonsense—with a high-fashion twist.
Why SpongeBob? McCartney explains: "At Stella, we question everything—just like SpongeBob. He’s a little crazy, totally unique, and celebrates individuality. That’s our vibe too."
But it’s not just about the fun prints. The collab carries a deeper message: marine conservation. With 93% of marine life at risk by 2100 due to pollution, McCartney ensured 93% of the collection uses eco-friendly materials—aligning with her brand’s cruelty-free ethos.
Pam Kaufman of Paramount praised the drop, calling it "a sophisticated yet whimsical take on SpongeBob’s joyful spirit." And with trippy tie-dye loungewear and acid-wash denim nodding to California’s surf culture (SpongeBob’s Pacific roots, anyone?), it’s a match made under the sea.
Bonus fun fact: Earlier this year, McCartney regained full ownership of her brand from LVMH—but she’s still working with them as Global Sustainability Ambassador. Talk about making waves!
