Scarlett Johansson in Prada Galleria campaign Ritual Identities film poster

Scarlett Johansson returns as the face of Prada’s Galleria bag—this time directed by Yorgos Lanthimos—in a campaign that feels part ritual, part psychological dance. The short film, titled Ritual Identities, isn’t just about fashion; it’s a journey through persona, transformation, and the art of becoming.

She embodies several versions of herself across the film—each with her own Galleria bag—moving through New York’s rhythms and Lanthimos’s signature surrealism. From shaking a tree for “morning breeze (not after 12 noon, not before 5 AM)” to pocketing pieces of porcelain from an antique vase, Johansson’s quest is both literal and metaphorical.

The Galleria bag remains constant throughout the scenes, acting as more than an accessory—it’s a vessel, a talisman, a container for identity itself. Whether she carries rainwater from a non-blooming cherry tree or drops of blood drawn at night, the bag ties together moments of ritual and performance.

For Prada, this campaign isn’t just a signature bag push—it’s a return to creative storytelling. Previous campaigns also brought filmmaking heavyweights: last year Jonathan Glazer directed Johansson, and before that Xavier Dolan launched the original campaign in 2021. This time, Lanthimos’s gothic flourishes, off-kilter humor, and questions of identity give the brand a cinematic edge.
